Hallmark Channel’s romantic comedy “A Pinch of Portugal,” tells us the story of Anna, a prep cook for a television show with a renowned chef, things seem to go well for her until the chef she works for decides to leave Portugal, and now, the network bosses tell her she must take his place and become the face of the show, which gives way for a personal challenge as she’s not used to be in the spotlight. 

Anna takes on the job and decides to showcase local Portuguese and inspired recipes to her show employing Portuguese ingredients and fresh produce and starts going to farmer’s markets to create the culinary dishes she will showcase on her new show. As the show goes along, a romantic triangle ensues between a local Portuguese man and her cameraman.

Shot in Lisbon, Portugal, a Pinch of Portugal takes us to the capital city of the Republic of Portugal; cast and crew moved there in March 2023 for principal photography and concluded by the end of that month.

Lisbon, Portugal

The entirety of A Pinch of Portugal, its exteriors, and interior scenes were filmed in the capital city of Portugal, Lisbon. Furthermore, Lisbon is a historical city, and it is a bustling metropolis full of culture, architecture, sceneries, and landscapes. 

Located on the Tagus River bank, the city is crossed by bridges and has all sorts of neighborhoods, districts, and sectors. It is here where the cast and crew focus on capturing Lisbon’s cobbled tile streets, its stairwells, and against the backdrop of the architecture, many dialogue scenes that give the movie its depth and character take place.

Rosanamar Fish Market, Lisbon

As Anna’s character takes on the challenge of now being in the front seat of the cooking show, she decides to tour around Lisbon’s markets and fishmongers, one of many scenes in which she takes on the quest of finding the best local ingredients, the freshest fish is at the famous Rosanamar Fish Market in Lisbon, owned, and operated by fishmongers who each day bring out the daily catch from the coasts of Portugal to sell their clientele the best fish and seafood out there.

Cascais, Lisbon

Cascais is a very important tourist district located in Lisbon, it features a beautiful Marina and seaside resorts, and it is one of the favorite vacation spots for many among Europe’s royalty across the years like Edward VIII, King Juan Carlos, and King Umberto II of Italy. Moreover, Cascais was also one of the places where James Bond’s creator Ian Fleming took inspiration to write Casino Royale. 

Cascais is one of the poshest and most luxurious districts in Lisbon, and here we see Anna’s character in several scenes with her two romantic interests in the movie, either chatting, checking out the places, or in exterior shots that take the viewers in depth to the streets and vibes of this Hallmark Channel movie.
