Carlos Santana faced problems because of his words. During a concert in New Jersey in July, he talked about his beliefs regarding how people understand their gender before they are born, He also mentioned that if someone changes their understanding later, he disagrees with that.

He spoke about how it is alright for people to keep things to themselves, and he also brought up his friend Dave Chapelle. Dave Chapelle had also said things in his comedy show on Netflix that made some LGBTQ+ people upset.

After people became angry with Santana for his words, he posted an apology on Facebook. He expressed regret for what he had said and explained that he did not intend to cause any harm. He wanted to show consideration for everyone’s viewpoints and show kindness. He shared that he wishes for people to find happiness and stay authentic to who they are. He also noted that this is a period when there are new laws in the United States that negatively affect LGBTQ+ people.

New rules are being made that make it harder for LGBTQ+ people to get good education and healthcare. These rules also try to control what is taught in schools about gender and love. On Friday, a new message was posted on Facebook. It said, “When you have a certain kind of feeling inside you, it makes more of the same feeling. Hate makes more hate, and love makes more love.”

He said during the concert, “When God made you and me before we came out of the womb, you know who you are and what you are. Later on, when you grow up, you see things, and you start believing that you could be something that sounds good, but you know it isn’t right. Because a woman is a woman and a man is a man. That’s it. Whatever you want to do in the closet, that’s your business. I’m OK with that.”

The LGBTQ+ community is facing problems

This occurred while LGBTQ+ people were still facing unfair treatment in the United States. Many states have passed laws that are kind towards LGBTQ+ people, particularly transgender youth. Even the leaders of Texas, Florida, and Alabama have established regulations that harm transgender people.

In March of 2022 and 2023, President Joe Biden spoke out in support of transgender individuals on Transgender Day of Visibility. He hopes that Congress will approve a law named the Equality Act. In August of the previous year, a court ruling was made that could assist transgender people in accessing necessary health care.

In June, Santana had a conversation about love in an interview. He discussed his spouse and how they encountered each other. They got married in 2010. The “Black Magic Woman” singer and his wife Cindy got engaged while on stage, and they tied the knot in Hawaii later that same year.
