Gunther is in the middle of an iconic run in Vince McMahon’s company. The Ring General continues to dominate the competition and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon. Now it appears he wants to main event WrestleMania as the Intercontinental Champion.
The Ring General won the WWE Intercontinental Championship in June 2022 and has since defended it quite a few times already. With each win, Gunther’s stock continues to rise and he becomes more and more dominating.
While speaking with Steve Fall, Gunther talked about main-eventing WrestleMania 40 as the Intercontinental Champion. Gunther made it clear he would be open about doing that.
“Who knows? If I get the chance of being in the Royal Rumble as the Intercontinental Champion, maybe. Yeah, I think going into that, I would be a favorite, so that would lead to WrestleMania [40]. So, the chance is there.”
We will have to wait and see whether Gunther will be able to replicate the same feat that The Ultimate Warrior did at WrestleMania VI in 1990, where he defeated Hulk Hogan to become the WWE Champion while also being the Intercontinental Champion.
