The Barbie bucks keep rolling in: Margot Robbie, both the star and a co-producer of Greta Gerwig’s latest blockbuster, is set to earn around $50 million through her salary and box office bonuses for her role in making Barbie Land a box office smash.

Per VarietyBarbie has raked in a whopping $1.18 billion globally, making it the second highest-grossing film in Warner Bros.’ history and the highest-grossing film ever from a female director. It’s also only the 53rd movie in movie history to have earned more than $1 billion at the global box office. It had a massive start earning $356.2 million its opening weekend, and then bested records for non-holiday Monday and Tuesday box office earnings.

Robbie –whose production company LuckyChap Entertainment focuses on promoting women’s stories and female creators in the industry — was confident in the premise of Barbie from the get-go; She recalled in a recent interview with Collider that she told Warner Bros. it was bound to make a billion dollars: “Maybe I was overselling, but we had a movie to make, OK?!”

Robbie, Gerwig, and our main Ken Ryan Gosling all went into Barbie without deals requiring them to do a sequel. Now, with the majority of Hollywood on strike, there’s no telling when or if a sequel will ever happen — luckily Robbie has the extra cash to sit on in the meantime.
