People online have been giving Kid Rock a hard time. They noticed he was drinking and having fun with a Bud Light beer. This teasing happened shortly after he tried to boycott the entire company. This was seen as weird by the people as he criticized the beer brand earlier. In the pictures shared on August 17, 2023, by netizens, you can see Kid holding a beer can while watching the Colt Ford show.

On April 3, 2023, TMZ reported that the American singer posted a video on his TikTok. In the video, he used his rifle to shoot at many Bud Light cans. He did this because he did not like that the beer brand was partnering with a transgender social media influencer named Dylan Mulvaney. This surprised people on the internet because they did not expect the rapper to take such a strong public position against the beer brand.

On the night of August 17, 2023, the famous American singer Robert James Ritchie, who people call Kid Rock, was seen at Skydeck in Nashville. He was there to watch Colt Ford perform. TMZ shared this news. Pictures of him that seemed normal became popular on the internet because fans saw the drink he was holding.

Kid Rock is receiving backlash from netizens

Kid Rock was drinking from a Bud Light can while having a good time watching the performance. People call him a “hypocrite” and say he “gave up on his principles” because he had previously spoken out against the brand.

Bud Light had collaborated with the transgender social media influencer named Dylan Mulvaney, and this did not sit well with the “Redneck Paradise” rapper. Fans from the southern regions were unhappy with Kid Rock because he had criticized the Bud Light brand in public and now is not sticking to his words.

Bud Light and Kid Rock controversy. What is the matter?

Mulvaney made a video for her 1.7 million followers to tell them about her teaming up with Bud Light. In the video, she showed that she got a box of special Bud Light cans with her picture on them to celebrate a year of being a woman.

Once she posted the video, netizens began to shower comments. Some comments praised the recognition of LGBTQ+ people, while others criticized the partnership for being disrespectful to transgender people. It did not take much time for folks to strongly criticize Bud Light and its owner, Anheuser-Busch, on Twitter.

We do not know what took place between them, but the video came out right after the band started collaborating with TikTok personality Dylan Mulvaney. The 52-year-old put up a 35-second video where he was shown dramatically shooting four packs of Bud Light beer as a protest against the beer brand.

He also wrote, “Grandpa’s feeling a little frisky today,” along with the video. Although Kid Rock did not talk about Mulvaney in the post, he was directly criticizing the beer industry for teaming up with a transgender activist.

Is the controversy affecting the Bud Light beer brand?

The company that owns Bud Light, Anheuser-Busch InBev, mentioned that their portion of the whole U.S. market, including all the brands, went down by over 5% to 36.9% in April. However, it stayed the same from the end of April to the end of June. Some of their brands, such as Busch Lite and Michelob Ultra, actually got more popular in the U.S. market.

However, the whole situation with Bud Light has been expensive for the company. In June, Bud Light no longer held its position as the top-selling beer in the United States.

This change happened after more than twenty years, and it dropped to second place, with Mexican beer Modelo Especial taking the lead. It is important to note that InBev also owns Modelo, but in the United States, the brand is brought in and sold by Constellation Brands.
