Offset has filed to dismiss his 2022 lawsuit against longtime Migos label Quality Control Music, TMZ reports and documents viewed by Pitchfork confirm. In the initial complaint, the rapper alleged that Quality Control was continuing to claim ownership over his solo recordings, even though he bought the rights to those works in 2021. Offset filed to dismiss the case with prejudice in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday (August 8).
Offset’s original suit referred to Quality Control’s alleged dominion over his work as “wrongful,” and claimed that that it “knowingly violates Offset’s rights to his own music.” The rapper pointed to his 2022 single “5 4 3 2 1”—released by his current label Motown records—alleging that Quality Control demanded that they be listed as holding an ownership interest in the recording.
Offset’s most recent Motown single was “Jealousy”—a collaboration with his wife Cardi B.
