Travis Scott’s planned concert at the Pyramids of Giza fell apart last month, but he’s announced a new event at another ancient site of import. He’ll perform at Rome’s Circus Maximus, a public park that was once the largest chariot-racing track in the Roman Empire, on Monday, August 7.
Scott had announced his plans to perform his new album, Utopia, at the Pyramids of Giza performance at the beginning of July, but the show was shelved indefinitely over logistical concerns. Utopia arrived on July 28, with guest appearances from Beyoncé, Drake, SZA, Bon Iver, and several others.
In conjunction with the new record, Scott released a film titled Circus Maximus, which he co-directed with Harmony Korine, Khalil Joseph, Gaspar Noe, Nicolas Winding Refn, and Valdimar Jóhannsson. The film’s official poster claimed it was produced by A24, but the production company quickly denied that it was involved with the project.
