Jey Uso has been on a roll as part of The Bloodline storyline, which began almost three years ago. ‘Main Event’ Jey Uso has been the central focus of the angle for the past few months now and he ended up getting betrayed by his brother Jimmy Uso at SummerSlam. Now it appears WWE never considered him beating Reigns at SummerSlam at all.

Roman Reigns’ loss at Money In The Bank led to the trial of Roman Reigns. Roman Reigns teased making Jey Uso the head of the table last month, but that didn’t happen as he made it clear he will remain The Tribal Chief. Afterwards, Jey Uso challenged him to match at SummerSlam.

During the Trial Combat match at the WWE SummerSlam Premium Live Event, Jey Uso was very close to defeating Roman Reigns before Jimmy Uso interfered in the match and betrayed Jey Uso – costing him the match in the process.

While speaking on McGuire on Wrestling, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE never had plans for Jey Uso to defeat Roman Reigns in the Trial Combat match.

“I never even heard anyone discuss that as a possibility. I mean, obviously, they’ve already got whatever it is. They’ve got plans going for Roman as champion for months down the line, so Jey wasn’t going to win.”

We will have to wait and see how WWE will book Jimmy and Jey Uso’s feud in the coming weeks, as it is likely The Bloodline storyline will not be ending anytime soon.

What are your thoughts on this story? Are you disappointed Jey Uso didn’t win? Let us know in the comments!
