Gunther is in the middle of an iconic run in Vince McMahon’s company. The Ring General continues to dominate the competition and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon. Now it appears he is officially the second-longest reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion of all time.

The Ring General won the WWE Intercontinental Championship in June 2022 and has since defended it quite a few times already. With each win, Gunther’s stock continues to rise and he becomes more and more dominating.

Gunther can match Honky Tonk Man’s long-standing record in September. Judging by how dominant he has been as the champion, it is all but confirmed that he will break the record.

Gunther has now hit 427 days as WWE Intercontinental Champion as he has now surpassed Pedro Morales, who held the title for 424 days. Gunther has to remain champion till September 8 in order to surpass The Honky Tonk Man’s record and truly make history.

We’ll have to wait and see if Gunther will end up making history this year, as all signs point towards him doing just that.

Do you believe Gunther will break the record and solidify his place as one of the most dominant Intercontinental Champions of all time? Leave us a comment.
