The Rock’s last match in WWE took place at WrestleMania 32 in a six-second match against Erick Rowan. Fans are still holding out hold that the Great One will wrestle again, but it’s not in the cards right now.
The Rock was recently cautioned about making a WWE return right now. The general thinking is that doing this during the SAG-AFTRA Strike is not a good idea. It appears that The Rock will be safe from upsetting those strike supporters.
Ringside News reached out to ask about the current status of The Rock in terms of the creative team’s ideas for him, and if there are any ideas getting batted around. We were told that there is currently no word on The Rock. In fact, we were told that he is likely still not in ring shape.
The Rock did not wrestle at WrestleMania this year, because he couldn’t get ready for a match with Roman Reigns. It seems that nothing has changed in that department. It might also not be a good idea to consider such a thing during the SAG-AFTRA strike, considering Dwayne Johnson’s position as a higher-up in Seven Bucks Productions.
With WWE moving forward with so many stories, it is anyone’s guess where they would even work The Rock into things, even if he wanted to make a return at 51-years-old. He would certainly bring a huge number for WWE, and added interest, but Dwayne Johnson’s next match will probably be his last. All things considered, The Rock’s next match will need to be in front of the biggest crowd possible.
The Rock might have been warned against wrestling during the pandemic. Strangely enough, as Ringside News exclusively reported, talks of John Cena’s WWE return started at the beginning of the SAG-AFTRA Strike. Either way, there is no talk of The Rock coming back to WWE.
